Naturally Sweetened Apple Butter

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 lbs (1.5 kilos) apples

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/4 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Core and chop the apples and place them in your slow or multi cooker

  2. Add the cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and water

  3. Cover and cook on low until the apples fall apart when touched with a fork (keep an eye and add more water if necessary to keep the apples from burning)

  4. Remove lid and puree with an immersion blender (or fork) to make applesauce

  5. Let the applesauce cook down on low for another 4-6 hours until the consistency of apple butter is reached.

  6. Transfer to jars and keep in the refrigerator

NOTES

  • The jars can be frozen as is and defrosted to spreadable goodness!
