Quarantine Day 5: Not Her Day
What a hard day.
There must be something in the water because little miss Rowan was just not having it today. It has been a full day of patience testing, envelope pushing, deliberate disobedience, truth bending, flat out lying, unnecessary and purposeful noise making and toy throwing.
The first event of the day was the silence upstairs.
Back story.. we have told her MANY times not to play with real water upstairs - ESPECIALLY with her doll.
So back to it.. I walk into the upstairs bathroom to find her doll stripped naked, in the bathtub with shampoo in her hair.
Deer in the headlights. “Sorry, mom”
Oy.
Two. All of the sudden she was gone. Out the front door. Luckily this time, I caught her as she walked out.
“Sorry, mom”
Three. All of the deliberate, albeit in English, “No”s.
Four. “Rowan, not in the center of the road.” “Rowan, there are cars there.” “Rowan, please listen. That's not safe!”
Beep beeeeeeep. Screeeeeeeeech.
“Thank God you're okay!” “I know it's scary.” “It's okay, you're alright”. “Breathe.”
“Rowan, that's why we ask you to listen. So that your safe. Please listen to us, we love you and want you to be safe, healthy and happy.”
“Okay, mom. I love you too”.
Five. Bad influences. Our neighbors have kids. A one yr old and a three yr old. They're a bit rough. She might be learning some lessons from kids whom she should not be learning lessons. Enough said.
There were many more..
And oh my goodness bedtime. God help us. Her doll is not ready yet.
There’s not much that reason can do. Strike that. There's nothing that reason can do. The screams were bone chilling. The rocking seemed like it would never end.
I held her. I rocked her. She calmed.
Tomorrow is a new day. I need a nap.
Day five.
But let's take some time to focus on a positive.. morning outdoor yoga with the girls. Pure joy!
